Meet the Dragon Staff -- MARKA HERBERT

MARKA HERBERT is the second grade teacher at Dawson.  She has been an educator for 40 years, and this is her 8^th year at Dawson.   She is from Portales, NM, and graduated from Eastern New Mexico University.

Mrs. Herbert taught home economics for 12 years, and then 1^st grade for 20 years before coming to Dawson ISD.  She and her husband raised their children in Friona. 

The thing she loves most about her job is the excitement when a student finally understands a concept.  She loves helping children improve their reading and math skills. 

Mrs. Herbert’s favorite place is the beach.  She has to go to at least one beach in the summer or her summer just isn’t complete!  She also likes to clean closets and organize cabinets.  It is very satisfying to her and doesn’t feel like work.

Something people might not know about Mrs. Herbert is that she was a cheer sponsor for 19 years.  Now she works for a cheerleading company as a sales representative. 

Dawson is so lucky to have MARKA HERBERT as part of the Dragon Staff!!!
